Accra rewards travellers who slow down. Most visitors see Independence Square and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in a morning, then discover the city properly in the afternoons: the tailors and print sellers in Makola, the galleries in Osu, the Saturday crowds at Labadi.
We usually build Accra as a two or three night bookend to a longer trip — arriving, resting, then heading out to Cape Coast, the Volta or up north. City transport is included, and our drivers know which routes to avoid at 5pm.
Best months are October to March, when the harmattan keeps the humidity down. July and August are cooler and wetter, and quieter on prices.
